“Turn your heart to the point of oneness, then nothing will be impossible to you” -Buddha
In this creative and fun 2 part workshop, we will begin our yoga practice in a circle, actually creating mandalas with our group. Diane will lead a basic, balanced, hatha yoga class, suitable for all levels of practice. Energy will flow through our circle leading us each to find our Center.
What is a mandala?
The meaning of mandala comes from Sanskrit meaning "circle." Even though it may be dominated by squares or triangles, a mandala has a concentric structure. Mandalas offer balancing visual elements, symbolizing unity and harmony. The meanings of individual mandalas are usually different and unique to each mandala. The goal of the mandala is to serve as a tool on our spiritual journey as it symbolizes cosmic and psychic order.
I will offer many different sheets of colorless mandala's, that can be painted, colored in with provided colored pencils & markers, ( bring watercolors or acrylics if you use them) You will also have the tools to create your own mandala from scratch: a more personal process, but coloring & painting will facilitate the benefits just as well.
This workshop is PLAYFUL; it’s for anyone who loves Ancient Indian & Tibetan Art, those looking to explore different meditation tools, and those who like Yoga and want to explore color and harmony. Older children and teens are very welcome.

Instructor: Carey DeMartini, LMHC, ATR-BC, RYT 500"Depression manifests as our inability to be present for the experience of life.”
~Stephen Cope
The practice of yoga can provide physical relief for symptoms that often accompany depression as well as calm the flow of negative thoughts, help to release stuck emotions, decrease anxiety, and allow for greater overall balance between the mind and body. We will explore how yoga philosophy, asana practice, and creativity can liberate us from living in the past or future to being in the present moment. We will incorporate meditation techniques, chanting, art, breathing, yoga postures, and dialogue into our practices and cultivate a field where our relationship to the inner witness that resides in us all, who sees all, and knows that we are already perfect and whole can grow and thrive. This workshop is designed to offer tools for individuals who are currently experiencing mild-moderate depression. It is not intended to be a substitute for therapy, but would be a supportive adjunct to current treatment.

This workshop is appropriate for the beginning yoga student and is also suitable for the basic practitioner who is looking to revisit the fundamentals of the practice. Come on in and spend the afternoon with us for an opportunity to explore yoga in a comfortable, relaxed, & non- competitive environment.
The Yoga Workshop will cover the primary standing poses, back & forward bends, twists, and an intro to an inversion. Postural alignment & breathing techniques will be taught. Each student will be encouraged and guided to work within their own limits.
In addition to the physical yoga, Diane will explain some of the different types of yoga, as well as explore the philosophy and meditation. The 8 Limbs of yoga will be discussed and handouts will be given.
The main intent of this workshop is to cover the most beneficial and most important physical yoga poses in the Hatha Yoga System. With this type of practice, the student can walk away feeling fantastic; relaxed but energized. You will also have some new knowledge and confidence to take to your own yoga class or to use in your practice at home.
